In last year’s report, we wrote that the IoT had finally arrived, but that manufacturers weren’t yet ready. What a difference a year makes: Many manufacturers are now not only ready, but are pulling ahead of their competitors.

MPI has some big news: On May 16, we’ll release the results from our 2017 MPI Internet of Things study.
This is the second year in a row that we’ve done this study among manufacturers, and the changes in adoption of IoT technologies and strategies are dramatic. Manufacturers are investing more, implementing IoT solutions, and launching IoT-enabled products.
Even more important, the new MPI data highlights how manufacturers are making more money — now — thanks to the IoT:
- 69% of manufacturers improved profitability over the last year by leveraging the IoT within their plants and offices.
- 65% of manufacturers improved profitability over the last year by selling smart/intelligent products (i.e., IoT-enabled products).
In last year’s report, we wrote that the IoT had finally arrived, but that manufacturers weren’t yet ready. What a difference a year makes: Many manufacturers are now not only ready, but are pulling ahead of their competitors.
Check back with MPI on May 16 to find out how you and your company can leverage the IoT for new profits, too.
